Eligibility
The 1 and 2 mile swim are USMS/PMS sanctioned events, while the USAS 1 and 2 mile
swim are sanctioned by USA Swimming/CCS. All swimmers must be current 2010 registered
members of one of these organizations in order to compete. Membership information

Equipment
Use of wetsuits shall result in that swimmer being ineligible for awards or place
points. The use of fins, pull buoys, or other swimming devices will result in instant
disqualification. Soft hand paddles may only be used as a prosthesis–provided, in
the opinion of the Race Director – they do not present a safety hazard to other
swimmers.
Awards
Medals will be awarded to the top 3 men and women in each age group. Age group awards
in USMS/PMS are in 5- year increments: 19-24, 25-29, 30-34, etc. For USA swimming/CCS
we have the following age groups: 11-12, 13-14, 15-18. Results will be posted on
www.sierramultisport.com
Timing
Electronic CHAMPIONSHIP TIMING will be used. Each swimmer will wear an electronic
timing chip on an ankle bracelet to automatically record their time. Timing chip
must be returned or a $30 charge will be assessed to the swimmer.

Package Pickup
Package pickup is available on Sunday June 20th at race site at Millerton Lake from
6:30 AM – 8:15 AM There will be NO Race-day registration – no exceptions. All entrants
must mail a photocopy of their USMS/PMS card or USA Swimming membership card with
the entry form.
Course & Water Temperature
The course will be marked by buoys at approximately 200 yard intervals. The expected
water temperature of the lake is between 60-70 degrees. The course will be clockwise
with the centerline on the swimmers right. Start and finish on the beach. It is
suggested that you bring comfortable shoes to walk to the race start as surface
will have sand and some rocks. Athletes from the 1 and 2 Mile will start in the
same wave. Athletes participating in the 2 mile event will do the course twice
Water Safety
Swim caps will be provided to all swimmers and will be mandatory for the swim. The
course will be monitored by a safety boat and paddlers. Individual escorts will
not be allowed. A cut-off time will be enforced to ensure that no swimmers will
be in the water longer than one hour for the 1-mile swim, and 2 hours for the 2
mile swim. All swimmers will be body marked. Local EMT will be present.
Directions
FWY 41 coming from the South: Take exit Friant road. Turn right at the traffic light
– you are on Friant road. Stay on this road for the next 15 miles till you pass
the small town of Friant. Go past the Shell station up to the dam and take a left
at the top into the park– follow the parking signs. FWY 41 coming from the North:
Take exit Friant road. Turn left at the traffic light – you are on Friant road.

Course
The race takes place in and around the beautiful, majestic town of Shaver Lake.
Both the Sprint and Olympic distance will start and finish at Camp Edison. The bike
and run course are out and back, with rolling hills. Sprint Distance starts 8 a.m.
Olympic Distance starts 8:30 a.m.

Sunday, 09/19/10: Package Pick-up and registration at Camp Edison 6:00 till 7:45
AM.
Awards
Awards will be presented to overall male and female winner, and to top 3 finishers
in each category. Age groups are divided in 10-year increments (19 and younger 20-29,
30-39, etc to 60 and up). Awards will be presented to the first 3 teams - we will
not make the distinction among coed, male, or female teams. Results will be posted
on our website.
Rules
All participants must sign a waiver at package pick-up. All participants need to
wear a helmet while on the bike. Straps on helmet must be closed at all times. No
bike riding in transition area. No drafting on the bike is allowed. Failure to follow
the race rules will result in disqualification. Caution: traffic will be monitored
at intersections. Course is not closed to vehicles. Stay on the right as much as
possible. Athletes cannot ride or run with headphones. Please leave your dog at
home.
Entry Fee Includes
All athletes registered before September 1st will receive custom quality T-shirt.
All athletes will receive a goody bag with swim cap and food at the finish line.
We will provide aid stations along the run course. Entry fee will go up $10.00 after
09/01/10. Those athletes who register after 9/1/10 or on race day are not guaranteed
a T-shirt. T-shirt will be distributed on a first come first serve basis.
